Ajik Ishaq, a 400-level student of the Plateau State University Bokkos, has been arrested.
Ishaq, who allegedly specializes in forging and issuing fake National ID cards, was arrested by the police in Adamawa State.
Ishaq who studies English and Literature at the university was arrested on November 24. Ajik, was apprehended while parading as well as advertising the kind of services he renders to people as a staff of the National Identity Management Commission(NIMC). An investigation by the police showed that he had defrauded about 28 unsuspecting citizens and realized the sum of N34, 000. only.
While being paraded before newsmen on Wednesday, November 30 alongside other suspects, Ishaq said he collects the sum of N1, 500, only per identity card. He narrated that whenever he meets a Christian, he gives his name as Ajik, and that while with a Muslim, he identifies himself as Yusuf in order win trust.
He said that it was while he was carrying out his business that somebody suspected he was a fake staff and called the police who arrested him. While parading the suspects, the Commissioner of Police, S.K Akande, vowed to ensure the prosecution of all the suspects upon completion of investigation.
